"Barbells are Physical Therapy"
Testimonials
Eric - New York (June 2021)
When I stepped into Chris Palladino’s gym for the first time, I had never done a single squat or deadlift in my life. Naturally, I was full of anxiety and insecurity about how to begin a lifting program. To put it mildly: I could not have found a better trainer and coach than Chris. Between the Starting Strength program and Chris’ warmth, kindness, patience, and expertise, I find myself looking forward to our sessions every week. In just four months, I’ve become stronger and more confident in my ability, which is something I carry in every facet of my life. I cannot recommend Stronger Physical Therapy and Chris Palladino enough.

I have been working with Chris since May of this year. I am a 54-year-old woman with a genetic lung disease called Cystic Fibrosis. My lung function is 20%. Chris has been wonderful working with the obstacles my health throws at him and my progress has been steady. I had been using the program on my own for 2 years. I had a pattern of progression and regression with illnesses. My squat and deadlift are now heavier than I ever thought I would get. He is very highly recommended.

I highly recommend Coach Chris for your strength training and programming. I've had prior shoulder surgeries and have degenerative disks in my neck so doing it on my own I kept flaring up old injuries. Since he is also a Doctor of Physical Therapy, I thought he would be a good fit for me. His cues are easy to follow to make adjustments for the next workout. The programming is also custom to me and keeps me progressing without over training. After just a few short months I am hitting personal bests and without pain. Only regret is I wish I did this sooner.

I have been training with Chris for several months now and am thrilled with the progress I have made thanks to his expertise and encouragement. I only wish I had found him sooner! I have especially appreciated his guidance through recovery from a recurring back injury - I didn't have to stop lifting, in fact my recovery was faster with the rehab program Chris set up for me. Looking forward to even more gains!

I read a book that asked which exercise skill would you want as you got older- run 10 miles, bike 25m or increase your strength. At the time I could do the first two but didn’t think that would be much help for the future. I read the Starting Strength Book and decided that would be best. I could not find a local trainer. I researched online set up an appointment with Chris. I never really thought about online training but decided to give it a try. I have trained with Chris for over six months. He is the best Trainer/Coach I have ever had. He is very detailed. If technique is important, he is the best around. It has been a great experience. I would encourage anyone to give it a try.

I've worked with Chris for the past year on learning and developing the barbell lifts. Prior to working with Chris, I did bootcamp style classes where I was chronically injured. I'm now stronger than ever and have not had a single acute injury while working with him, which is a huge testament to his careful programming.
Chris blends his knowledge of strength training with his background in physical therapy to keep his clients progressing while remaining heathy. He knows how to find that perfect balance with his clients- pushing things forward without working the trainee into the ground. He is busy husband and father of 2 himself, so he knows just how to get other busy parents and people of all ages strong.

Chris is an awesome coach. Super knowledgeable, responsive, and caring to your individual needs. He believes in you and your strength and helps you achieve your goals. He maximizes your potential while remaining realistic. I am so appreciative to have Chris's support on my strength journey, especially though pregnancy and postpartum. I highly recommend Chris to anyone looking to get stronger!

Hats off to Coach Chris! Coach Chris is an excellent Starting Strength certified coach, and I’ve been training with him for over 2 years. Coach Chris combines a knack for programming, an astute eye and great verbal cues, and all the knowledge of a Doctor of Physical Therapy. He is the complete strength coach. While I started off training with Coach Chris in person, I became an online training client in March 2020 at the start of the pandemic. Thanks to Coach Chris, I’ve gotten stronger over the past 18 months than I’ve ever been. Coach Chris’ experience as a Doctor of Physical Therapy has proven its worth multiple times as he has helped program me back from various minor injuries and setbacks that I’ve experienced along the way. I can’t recommend Coach Chris for in person or online coaching enthusiastically enough.

I have been so lucky to find Chris as a Starting Strength coach. Because he is also a physical therapist, I never had to stop training when I was injured, (wonky shoulder, nerve issues, strained thigh), as Chris uses the barbells as rehab for me. This is the first time in all my years of working out, that an injury has not stopped me from doing what I love, which is lifting heavy weights. I trained with Chris in person before the pandemic closed down the barbell club I went to. Luckily, I had a full garage set up and Chris seamlessly transferred me to online training. I still get great feedback and form corrections, with cues that make sense that I can apply to my next workout. I thought working out not in person would keep me from reaching PRs, but that has not been the case. I continue to PR all my lifts. In addition, since I am passed the beginning level of Starting Strength, Chris has been able to keep my workouts different and interesting. I highly recommend Chris as a strength coach and/or physical therapist.
